Congratulations to Mike Crowston who in the 2nd qualifying round of The World Champioships, held in Nairn, Scotland, shot a net 74 to win the Kelmsley Cup.
We should not be surprised. Looking at the list of previous winners a certain Mr A L Fossey of DDGC fame presided in 1958 & 1959

Again, many congratulations to Mike Crowston on his success at the one armed championships.
I have not yet had the pleasure of a game with Mike, but in my youth had many games with A.L Fossey (Archie).
Archie was a leading light with the society, and on one occasion brought a team to play at Dunstable.
I remember Archie fondly. He played right handed on the forehand, off a handicap of about 15, with an excellent short game.
He lived in Eaton Bray, and was a skilled painter and decorator.
He told me once that he papered ceilings on his own, using his head and one arm! Amazing.
Cheers, Nick. “
