The Dunstable team were royally entertained by Harpenden last Sunday and emerged as victors by 6 and a half points to 5 and a half- so the match was extremely close and only resolved by the team of Graham Sheldon and Cath Samsa who won the final match.
The weather was great for the day and everyone was very lucky to keep dry as the heavens opened about half an hour after the final match finished.
The Hammonds End course was immaculate although the pin positions were horrendous but all commented on its fine condition and the complimentary comments were passed on to Neil Robson (the Course manager) who is our member- Dave Robson’s- son.
Phil Sutton substituted at the last minute for Phil Delafield who had a bad back but Phil and Adrian were a great team and won their match 7 and 6 dropping only 3 shots to par on the way. The Harpenden unfortunates who played against Adrian and Phil must have must have drawn a deep breath when they realised that they were going to face a 2 handicap golfer instead of the 17 handicapper that they expected.
We look forward to the next mixed match which is against Knebworth on the 21st August
