On a fine day last Friday the Captain invited a team of current and ex Captains to represent Dunstable Downs at Aspley Guise.
The team comprised current Captain Graham Tate and Vice Captain Dave Price who performed reasonably well in this four ball better ball format by scoring 40 points. However ex Captains Phil Delafield and John Todd scored even better with 41 points which was only 2 points short of the best score of the day.
Roy Drage(vice Captain elect) and Peter Samsa ( ex Captain) did not have their best of days however a fighting 36 points from John Hill and Graham Sheldon pushed the overall team into 4th position of the 9 teams competing.
John of Gaunt won the day with an average score for the team of 39 points a piece-so an extremely high target to reach.
The course was in lovely condition and the team were entertained royally by Aspley Guise and many plaudits must be given to their Captain and Committee for continuing to hold such a prestigious Competition
