The past Captain’s Mixed Match was held on Sunday 31st July. Unfortunately there was a disparity in numbers of ladies as against gents-so instead of the usual format of a fourball betterball competition, the game was decided on the highest average stableford score with the ladies receiving 2 courtesy shots for playing off the men’s card and the men playing off the white tees. Captain Graham Tate and future Vice Captain Roy Drage made up the fours but their scores did not count in the match.
The game was played in ideal conditions and it was nice to welcome Anne Weir back to the club. It was a close fought encounter with the men leading until the last game when Adrienne Lane and Claudine Tate came in with fine scores.
Lisa provided an excellent meal and the trophy was accepted by Sheila Kempster. Bob Jackson provided some amusing after dinner humour.
All in all –an excellent day with the matches played in fine spirit. Thanks to all who helped with the arrangements.
Hopefully-the number of ladies and gents will be equal next year and we can then revert to the original format.
