Bright debuts for DDGC novices

Berkhamsted brought a  new team bristling with a mix of experienced and new players to face a young Dunstable team. Charlie Allen, Louie Prewer, Ben Marshall, George Hewitt & Jake Page were all making their competitive debuts in 4 ball match play competition…and they did not disappoint. Supported by some experienced hands in Brandon Black, Elliot Roch, the captain for the day, Freya Daniels & Ryan Craig, the team came out eventual winners 4 – 2.

The Berkhamsted team manager commented, “It was a tough match for our boys; they did not seem to cope too well with the wind” But she added, “This is just the sort of experience that they all need, however. Playing on different courses in difficult conditions gives them the perfect opportunity to improve their overall game”

My special thanks go to Brandon Black & Jake Page. Both had been drafted in at the 11th hour; Brandon had already completed 18 holes that morning and Jake had demanded that his parents take him to the course from an event in Redbourn. That’s why I call commitment.

Ian Daniels, DDGC Team manager said, A great team spirit amongst the team and thanks to the club for a great tea and looking after all the players so well. Keep practicing, the future for DDGC Junior Section is looking bright”

This superb performance augers well for the long term. Well played everyone.
