Waterlogged course leads to Junior Captains Day postponement

DDGC has once again succumbed to bad weather as Captain Dave Price reluctantly cancelled Junior Captains Day because of a waterlogged course. When the players arrived in the morning sunshine they could not have expected such a disappointing outcome but rain from 6pm the night before made the decision inevitable

John Winter, Junior Organiser said, “I just couldn’t believe it. 34 players had entered this year and having played the course the day before I knew that it was in ‘tip top’ condition and with the breeze a real test. Captain Dave Price has quickly rescheduled the event for the next available day; Sunday 16th September”

John added, “I would like to extend my thanks to the members of DDGC who so generously supported the juniors the night before. Over £400 was raised for the prize pool and this has allowed Darren to line up some great prizes. With Captains Day tee pegs and pencils it was all set to be a day to remember…for a different reason”

If you have entered the competition this year your name will be carried over to September. We are mindful of the time of year and how it can encroach on other sporting events but we will make every effort to remain flexible. Looking positively, it will give us the opportunity to see if we can attract some new players too and the sick and absent will have another chance to enter.
