The DDGC Junior Open is now firmly back on the golfing calendar. After a 30 year wait the event, open to all club golfers aged under 18, attracted a field of 51 competitors representing 15 different clubs from across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire & Buckinghamshire.

The course was in great condition, and, unusually this season, the weather was glorious with not a cloud in the sky – a wonderful day for golf.

The main prize was won by 12 year old George Rocca from Little Hay Golf Club in Hemel Hempstead who shot a gross 89, net 66 to beat Alex Garvey, from Radlett into 2^nd place.

The excellent conditions allowed for some great scores with Brandon Black from DDGC winning the Best Gross prize with a score of 76

The DDGC boys took full advantage of playing at home and collected many prizes. Alex Tipping won the U18 category & Ryan Craig was 2^nd in the U14 category.

The DDGC Junior Open needs your help. We all know that the first is a tough opening hole from the white tees and having just witnessed the trials and tribulations faced by the juniors this afternoon, and with a strong field of over 50 boys, we know that we will need ball spotters on the first fairway to help keep the pace of play moving. If you have a couple of hours spare, and fancy a morning out in the sunshine, then we would welcome your support. The first match starts at 08:30 with the final group departing at 10:54

We presently have 47 confirmed entries from 14 different clubs in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire & Buckinghamshire with handicaps ranging from 4 to 28. It should be a great event and I have been reliably assured that the weather is going to be warm and sunny too ha ha
