Welcome to Dunstable Downs Golf Club. Situated high on the crest of the Chiltern Hills, 800 feet above sea level, Dunstable Downs Golf Course is laid out on a rolling plateau with views over many counties, from Surrey in the South to Northamptonshire in the North. The Downs is a famous beauty spot and viewpoint to watch the Gliders from London Gliding Club. The bracing air, the glorious downland turf and the richly varied character of the terrain make it an ideal place for a golf course.

The course is a first class test of golf over its 6251 yards, originally a nine hole course, it was redesigned in 1930 by the famous course designer James Braid and now provides an interesting test for players of all abilities. The chalky sub-soil makes for dry conditions all year round and the quality of the greens is a renowned feature.

The course and the club House have seen many changers in its life time and it is the aim of the present committee to continue its evolvement into the 21^st Century.

We celebrated our Centennial in 2006 and have continued to grow in the following years.

Modern day equipment creates its own peculiarities and we have to accommodate such advances, this may mean refining the course, but it is the present committee’s intention to keep the course as close to its origins as possible.

We are ably served by Alan Sigee, our manager and his staff, Gavin Stewart our steward, and his staff and Darren Charlton our Professional, who is an outstanding golfer and teacher. Complementing our course facilities is our equally exquisite catering, supplied by Lisa Roberts and her team. Lisa caters for Club Competitions, Social events & Societies, Sunday Lunches and outside events such as Meetings, Weddings and Anniversaries.

Dunstable Downs has collaborated with eight clubs in Bedfordshire and ten clubs in Hertfordshire to create a reciprocal arrangement where members can take advantage of playing some of the best courses in the surrounding area. A nominal fee is charges to play these courses and arrangements can be made through the Club Secretary.

Likewise, our Ladies Section, Captained by Jenny Gray, run competitions throughout the year on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Also available to members are both competitive and social mixed competitions.

We have a vibrant Junior Section, who run their own competitions throughout the year. They are also invited to compete in Senior Competitions where the rules permit.

It is my belief that all sections of membership within the club, our visitors, whether playing golf or just socializing will enjoy the course, sociability, ambience and vista of one of England’s outstanding golf courses.
