Scratch Team Win Winter League
Tuesday, April 10th, 2012The scratch Team have won the winter scratch league after successfully defending the title they won a year ago.
Heading to South Beds, the team needed a half or a win to retain the title, after an early loss in the first game, the last pair were also well down, it wasn’t looking good, but a win by Chris Spooner and Rob Sutton in the second match evened the tie up at 1-1 and after a narrow one up win in the third game by Matt Oborne and Dan Jones the league was won. If that wasn’t good enough Paul Kenna and Phil Sutton five down with six to play secured the unlikeliest of halves with a chip in at the last to give the team a 2.5-1.5 win.
Thanks go to Mark Carter, Ross Jones, Chris Spooner, Rob Sutton, Dan Jones, Matt Oborne, Paul Kenna, Phil Sutton, Adam Fitzgibbon and Dave Taylor for their contributions this year in winning the league and hopefully we can make it three in a row next year.
Thanks also go to the members of Dunstable who came out to support us in this crucial game.

Winter League Dinner
Thursday, March 29th, 2012Men’s Match v John O’Gaunt (Away)
Thursday, March 29th, 2012Club Match v Welwyn Garden City Golf Club
Sunday, March 25th, 2012Played on Saturday 24 March 2012. The Captain picked a strong team for this match hoping to lose the stuffing trophy, alas things did not run to plan with the team getting well and truly stuffed losing every game, so once again that most hideous of trophies returns to Dunstable. (Roy you got only one thing to achieve next year not to win that trophy).
I am informed by guess who that the highlight of the day was the Captain getting a Eagle on the Par 5 10th. A good day was had by all and we look forward to welcoming Welwyn Garden City to Dunstable in April for Mixed Match. By the way if you want to see the trophy its by appointment only, with the Captain, as its beside his bed.
Better news today Sunday 25 March 2012 when the Captain finally won a match leading from the front he lead his team to a win in The Mail on Sunday competition 3 – 2 over Elstree/Radlett, helped by hole in one by Colin Jackson on 18th they are now through to 4th round.
