Our 113 year old golf course is situated two miles south west of Dunstable on the Whipsnade Road (A4541), high on the crest of the Chiltern Hills and nearly 800 feet above sea level.
The Downs is famous as a beauty spot and viewpoint, with a panorama taking in seven counties.
The bracing air and glorious downland turf, set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, makes it an ideal spot for golf.

The present layout, planned by James Braid and constructed by J.A. Stutt of Paisley (and Carnoustie fame) provides an interesting challenge for golfers of all abilities. There are 18 holes over 6322 yards, par 70. Holes 1 to 10 are parkland with holes 11 to 18 along the top of the Downs and very “links” in nature. Thanks to the chalky subsoil, the course is playable for most of the year and is always dry with fast, true contoured greens. Our Greenstaff pride themselves on the way that they present the course and they always ensure that it is in the best condition possible.

You can be assured of a very warm welcome and a unique spirit of friendliness and sociability pervades the Clubhouse. Our Catering team are on hand to serve you throughout the day – from breakfast through to dinner.

Visitors are requested to register in the Professional’s Shop on arrival and settle their green fee. We ask that visitors should be members of a recognised golf club and hold a current handicap. Our PGA Professional and his team will make every effort to make your day an enjoyable and succesful one and will give you the clubhouse access code of the day and to exit the course at departure time.

We always welcome visitors who wish to play our course. At weekends, visitors currently must be introduced by and play with a member, but please contact our Professional for daily availability. For further information, please contact our General Manager on 01582 604472 or by Email.

Individual green fees should be paid in the Professional’s Shop before playing. Payment by cash, cheque or credit/debit card is acceptable.
